We know the DESIGNERS OF THE YEAR 2020
Awards for young designers who are worth following The Designers of the Year competition will be held for the second time as part of ARENA DESIGN. The aim of the competition is to promote and popularize new design solutions, deepen the knowledge about design among entrepreneurs and target customers, as well as to indicate the need for cooperation between the manufacturer and the designer to achieve a high status on the international market.
Below are the laureates of the Designers of the Year 2020 competition:
Jan Kochański is well-known for his care for rational use of materials and pure form. He proves that a seemingly simple and commonly used object can be both functional and beautiful. His works have been shown at exhibitions in London, Cologne and Paris, to name just a few. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Interior Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and the Faculty of Industrial Design of the Milan University of Technology. Since 2012, he has been an assistant in a furniture design studio at his alma mater Academy of Fine Arts. In 2010 he completed his internship in the design office of Karim Rashid.
UAU Project is a multidisciplinary design studio from Warsaw. It is mainly focused on designing everyday objects that can be produced with home 3D printers. They pay great attention to old craftsmanship techniques, everything that is local and nature-friendly. Laureates of the A’ desing Award 2016 in the category for Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design and two Must Have awards.
Tartaruga Studio is a weaving studio run by two friends. On a daily basis, the girls create contemporary kilims and decorative fabrics. Each product is hand made using traditional craft instruments and techniques. The wool that is used in the production process is either recycled or comes from Polish, sustainable sheep farming.
The works of all the awarded designers will be exhibited by Maria Jeglińska-Adamczewska, creative director of ARENA DESIGN.
